  21. TUCSON, AZ, August 4, 1993 -  Pinnacle Research, Inc., the NEXTSTEP
  22. Utility Lab,  announced beta-testing at selected sites of Pinnacle
  23. Transfer - dubbed by Pinnacle as the "E-mail Anywhere, Anytime!"
  24. application. Pinnacle also announced a limited-time introductory
  25. price of $125 for the package which normally sells for $249.

  27. Pinnacle Transfer is a NEXTSTEP remote access application, solving
  28. the common problem of accessing electronic mail, files, and data
  29. using a modem and a remote machine, such as a laptop or home
  30. computer. Transfer gives users access to NeXTmail and UNIX mail, 
  31. stored on an office machine, using the ease and elegance of the highly 
  32. acclaimed NEXTSTEP user interface. Before Transfer, remote access to 
  33. NeXTmail required users to use generic file transfer software and to 
  34. then decode the messages into NeXTmail by hand.

  36. Transfer's modular client-server based design provides users with
  37. modules for Email, drag-and-drop file transfer, and remote command
  38. execution:

  40.    Incoming Mail - Select which messages to transfer based on
  41.       message size, subject, or sender for reading with NeXTmail's
  42.       Mail.app application.

  44.    Outgoing Mail - Send outgoing messages composed on or off-line
  45.       with the local machine.

  47.    Command Execution - Execute UNIX commands on the office server
  48.       and receive the output.

  50.    Remote File Browser - Browse the remote filesystem using a
  51.       "Workspace-like" file browser.  Copy files to and from the
  52.       remote server simply by dragging the file icons from the
  53.       Transfer browser to the Workspace Manager file browser.

  55. The remote server portion of Transfer is architecture independent.
  56. This allows client modules to interface with applications running
  57. on UNIX systems other than NEXTSTEP.

  59. Pinnacle Transfer's modular architecture is designed to be extended
  60. using custom modules to meet specific business requirements. These
  61. custom modules can be used to provide NEXTSTEP user-interface based
  62. connections to mission-critical NeXT and non-NeXT applications
  63. residing on a remote server. Pinnacle Research, Inc. is offering
  64. consulting services to design custom modules for Transfer. Pinnacle
  65. Transfer is scheduled to ship in early September. Introductory
  66. pricing valid until September 30, 1993.
